About the event

- What we're up to -

A whole decade of frolicking apparently😳

Our April frolic is always about embracing the good green things of Spring, but this time we're also celebrating 10 years (!!!) of bringing together plant pals as part of Wild Foragers Society. Join us for a walk to see what's popping up and out, and then stick around for a wild food/foraged plant potluck/birthday party.

If you have an amazing recipe with foraged ingredients or been wanting to try making something 'wild' inspired, this is your time to shine.

Yes, there will be cake.

There might even be plant charades.

- What to bring -

  • Yourself dressed for the weather (rain, snow or shine!)
  • Your own beverage and/or a drinking vessel of some kind that you can toast with. A small plate and fork/spoon may be handy too.
  • Optional/Encouraged: A snack to share - wild/foraged food inspired ones are welcome, but not required.
  • Optional: Your favourite field guide.

- Keep in mind -

Wild Foragers Society facilitates communal learning in the outdoor classroom. We strive to demonstrate respect and reciprocity to the land we walk on as treaty people, and part of nature. We also comply with City mandated by-laws; there is no harvesting during the frolic.

Frolics are lead in English. We will walk as a group for approximately 1-2km on a gravel/dirt path and asphalt trail.

COVID is still present in our community. We encourage participants to be mindful of social distancing. Everyone is welcome to wear a mask and take any precautions they feel necessary.

- How to get there -

We're excited to be back wandering in the valley where the very first frolic happened in 2013! Meet us at the Evergreen Brick Works main gates - these are ornamental metal gates between the South-West parking lot and Building #1 where the public washrooms are.

If you're driving, you can pay to park in any of the three lots at the Brick Works. A free shuttle bus runs from Broadview Station, and anyone travelling by bike or foot can arrive via the Lower Don River or Beltline Trail(s).

Late or lost? Call/text Becky at 613-503-1309
