Frolic #66 | Sweet Spring Birthday

- What we're up to -

The pandemic isn't over, but we are feeling ready to safely gather and bask in the glory of plants together again! Some April frolics are cold and snowy and others cause sunburns. Either way, we'll be out and about searching for signs of spring. WFS is hoping to get back into an IRL frolic schedule and we are stoked to be in Tkaronto this month celebrating our 9th birthday - we'd love to see your faces there. Since it's been a long COVID hiatus, and it's a birthday, we're also inviting folks to wear their favourite 'nature adornments' - this could be a beloved pair of feather earrings, a willow bracelet, a tshirt with a tree on it, a ballgown that's green, whatever goes! If you feel like being fancy, we're here for it.

- What to bring -

• Yourself dressed for the weather (we go rain or shine) - that includes footwear that will keep you warm and dry, and that you don't mind possibly getting a bit muddy!
• Your 'nature adornment' should you have one and wish to display it.
• A thermos or water-bottle is always recommended.
• A tasty snack to share (wild-food inspired is awesome but not necessary!) We love eating together, and our birthday frolic is no exception! Expect to nosh on something fancy from the kitchens of Sammy/Lee/Becky + what others bring to share.

- Keep in mind -

Wild Foragers Society utilizes the outdoor classroom; we respect the local by-laws and private property and do not harvest during frolics without permission. Frolics are lead in English, we will walk as a group for approximately 2 km - this will include a long flight of stairs into the ravine, part of the Taylor Creek Trail. WFS is supportive of all community care efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Masks are not mandatory at the frolic, but welcome for those who wish to wear them. We respect the right of each individual's choice and ask others to do the same.

- How to get there -

We'll gather in Cullen Bryant Park near the playground and the bigggg willow tree - just look for a group of plant lovers. You can access the park by taking the #8 or #70(A or C) TTC buses to O'Connor / Coxwell and then walk one block to the northern end of Coxwell. After the frolic, we'll be hanging out in the park for a bit to enjoy snacks and each other's company, cause we missed you!
